Reg Presley, Deng Wei, Jack Singer, Sir Paul Holmes & Amina Cachalia have passed away. May their souls rest in peace.

Reg Presley: June 12th 1941 – February 4th 2013
Reg Presley, singer-songwriter of 1960s British band, The Troggs, has passed away at the age of 71. Born in Hampshire, UK, he left school an immediately joined the construction trade as a bricklayer, a job which he continued throughout the early stages of his musical career. 1966 saw his band secure a US Number 1 with the single, "Wild Thing" which went on to sell over 5 million copies. "With a Girl Like You" and "I Can't Control Myself" were among many other hits penned by Presley, though it is the song "Love Is All Around" for which he will be most remembered, a tune that was late covered by Wet Wet Wet for the hit movie "Four Weddings and a Funeral". He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.

Deng Wei: April 13th 1939 – February 3rd 2013
Renowned Chinese photographer and professor, Deng Wei, has passed away. He was 73. Born in Beijing, Wei studied art from an early age. Especially interested in painting he attended the University of Peking and later the Beijing Film Academy. Wei's projects included "Portrait Collections of Chinese Cultural Celebrity" which gained much recognition and was hailed as a "Cultural Project for China" and led to work shooting celebrities around the world. His 1984 film, "Sacrificed Youth", won many gongs including the Hong Kong International Film Festival Chinese Language Award and the France Dorset Film Festival Special Jury Award. 2004 saw Wei exhibit Portraits of Peace at the United Nations' headquarters.

Jack Singer: December 17th 1917 – February 2nd 2013
Canadian businessman, property developer and philanthropist, Jack Singer, has passed away at the age of 95. Born in Calgary, Singer bought his first property aged only 17 and later bought the studio of legendary director, Francis Ford Coppola. An avid movie fan, 2011 saw Singer honored by the council of Los Angeles for his "vital role in the revitalization of the District of Hollywood" and for his role in the establishment of the Hollywood Center Studio which is highly respected and treasured by those in the film industry. A concert hall in his hometown has also been named after Singer.

Sir Paul Holmes: April 29th 1950 – February 1st 2013
Leading New Zealand radio and television journalist, Sir Paul Holmes has passed away aged 62. His eponymous current affairs show ran from 1989 to 2004 and his weekend radio slot on Newstalk ZB from 1985 until 2008. Born in New Zealand's Hawkes Bay, Holmes' first break on the radio came with a production of "Antony and Cleopatra" alongside actor Sam Neil. Holmes was one of his country's leading campaigners for the Paralympics; in 1999 he published his autobiography and a year later a self-titled album. He retired from the media in 2012 after heart surgery and cancer treatment for the second time. Holmes died only two weeks after receiving his knighthood and is survived by his wife, son and step-daughter.

Amina Cachalia: June 28th 1930 – January 31st 2013
Politician, feminist and anti-Apartheid activist, Amina Cachalia has passed away at the age of 82. Born in Vereeniging, South Africa, from her teens Cachalia became involved in political causes, and later spent fifteen years under house arrest. She became close friend and confident to Nelson Mandela and in 1994 was elected as a Member of Parliament to the National Assembly of South Africa. 2004 saw Cachalia honoured with the Order of Luthuli in Bronze for her lifelong commitment and campaigning for democracy and racial and sexual equality in South Africa.
